We've all heard about "required reading" and, for better or for worse, much of the required reading in high school English classes was written prior to the 21st Century. As we try to prepare students for life in the 21st Century, exploring the literature of the 21st Century is a great way to do so.
Choose a book from the list below to read. While you are reading, think about what you can learn about life in the 21st Century from its literature. When you are finished reading the book, write a letter to your teacher about your experience.
Some possible things to include in your letter:
* What happened in the book?
* What traits describe the main character?
* Are you interested in reading other books by this author?
* Did anything surprise you about the book?
* Did you like the book (It's okay if you didn't :-))? Why or why not?
