12th Grade English

As Americans, it's only natural that we've read primarily American literature in our spare time.  However, there are writers all over the world, and reading a piece of world literature is a great opportunity for you to explore how writers from a different country are similar to and different from American authors.

Choose a book from the list below to read.  When you are finished reading the book, write a letter to your teacher about your experience.

Some possible things to include in your letter:
* What happened in the book?
* How is this book different from and similar from American books?
* What traits describe the main character?
* Are you interested in reading other books by this author?
* Did anything surprise you about the book?
* Did you like the book (It's okay if you didn't :-))? Why or why not?
