7th Grade Language Arts

Let's face it, textbooks can be a little ... well, boring.  However, who doesn't like a good story?  Historical fiction is a genre that allows students to experience a combination of actual events and a great read.

Summer Reading Assignment

Choose a book from the list below to read. While you are reading, think about how the author puts elements of fiction into times, places, or events that actually happened. When you are finished reading the book, write a letter to your teacher about your experience.

Some possible things to include in your letter:
* What happened in the book?
* What parts did you think were fictional?
* Are you interested in reading other books (fiction or non-fiction) about the
   historical focus?
* Did anything surprise you about the book?
* Did you like the book (It's okay if you didn't :-))? Why or why not?
